1. Functions

The Journal of Philosophy and Thought serves as an academic forum for the publication, exchange, and dissemination of scholarly research in philosophy and related fields of intellectual inquiry. The Journal seeks to advance philosophical scholarship, foster academic dialogue, and promote philosophical thinking in contemporary contexts.

The Journal provides a platform for researchers, lecturers, doctoral and graduate students, and others engaged with philosophy to exchange ideas and engage in dialogue across different philosophical traditions, approaches, and disciplines.

Beyond publishing specialized philosophical research, the Journal seeks to bring philosophy into dialogue with pressing theoretical and practical issues of the contemporary world, including transformations in human existence, society, science, technology, culture, and intellectual life.

2. Responsibilities

The Journal of Philosophy and Thought undertakes the following principal responsibilities:

  1. Publishing scholarly research of high academic quality in philosophy and related fields, including the history of philosophy, aesthetics, ethics, political philosophy, social philosophy, philosophy of science, philosophy of technology, and interdisciplinary philosophical studies.

  2. Providing a forum for academic dialogue among scholars and members of the intellectual community, encouraging constructive engagement among diverse philosophical perspectives, schools, and traditions on the basis of scholarly rigor, openness, and respect for intellectual differences.

  3. Encouraging research on contemporary philosophical issues, particularly those arising from transformations in science, technology, artificial intelligence, culture, society, and human life.

  4. Connecting philosophy with other disciplines and fields of practice, promoting interdisciplinary research that addresses fundamental questions concerning human beings, knowledge, values, society, technology, and the contemporary world.

  5. Advancing and disseminating philosophical knowledge, thereby contributing to the development of theoretical reasoning, critical thinking, and the capacity to examine and analyze significant issues in contemporary life.

  6. Supporting emerging scholars, particularly doctoral students, graduate students, and early-career researchers, by providing opportunities for scholarly publication, intellectual exchange, and participation in the broader academic community.

  7. Promoting international academic exchange and engagement, encouraging scholarly communication in both Vietnamese and English and fostering dialogue with scholars, philosophical traditions, and research institutions worldwide.

  8. Upholding academic and publication ethics, maintaining standards of scholarly integrity, transparency, research honesty, originality, and responsible academic publishing, while preventing plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct.

Through these functions and responsibilities, The Journal of Philosophy and Thought seeks to cultivate an open, rigorous, and dialogical intellectual space in which philosophy is pursued not merely as the study of the history of ideas, but also as a mode of critical reflection on human beings and the contemporary world.
